LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2012
DUNSCROFT SOCIAL Well done lads, they have won the title before but nobody can remember when. Somebody remarked Queen Victoria was on the throne at the time, that cannot be right as one or two lads in the picture would remember that. All the same it was well deserved and congratulations.
K.O. CUP WINNERS 2012 THORNE SNOOKER B
After finishing runners up in the league and losing finalists in the trophy competition Thorne B were determined to retain the cup and give them a winning end to the season. They started in fine style comfortably winning the first two frames but Stainforth Old Club who have also had their best season for many years finishing third in the league came back strongly to level the match at two frames all. The final frame went down to the black, Stainforth had the chance to win it, missed and Thorne closed out the match. WELL DONE to both teams for a superb match that contributed to a great evening.
TROPHY WINNERS 2012
THORNE SNOOKER A
Thorne Snooker A salvaged something from a poor season with an easier than expected victory over Thorne Snooker B, possibly because Aaron was playing with his eyes closed, see picture above.
SINGLES OPEN WINNER 2012
CRAIG RAY
Craig had to overcome Hatfield Main A team mate and doubles partner Billy Whitehurst to retain the singles open title. He made a good start with a break of 31 in the first frame, then followed with two 20+ breaks in the second frame. The third frame was a close scrappy frame which Craig managed to secure on the colours to retain his title.
SINGLES HANDICAP WINNER 2012
AARON BEADMAN
Described by referree Daz Coy as the best match he has ever officiated in. Aaron and Ian McLean both attacking players went for it from the off, Aaron got the better of the first two frames but was pegged back by Ian which forced the match into a fifth frame decider. Aaron produced a superb break of 46 to take the final frame and the title. Well done lads and I missed it, DAM!!.
DOUBLES HANDICAP WINNERS 2012
CRAIG RAY and BILLY WHITEHURST
Craig and Billy were giving 180 start over four frames to competition newcomers Brian Blaydon and Richard Grant who were soon in trouble as they saw their lead whittled down to only 50 points after two frames. Brian and Richard rallied in the third frame and took a lead of 29 into the final frame, but unfortunately for them is was not enough and Craig and Billy emerged worthy winners.

PRESENTATION TO REFEREE
Peter Haynes presenting Daz Coy with his award at the k.o.cup final.
Many thanks Daz for the time and effort put in this season refereeing 10 out of 14 matches. Don't renew your Rovers season ticket and then you could manage all the matches.
